What is GreenMatch?

GreenMatch® is an organic herbicide that controls a broad spectrum of annual and perennial weeds, both grasses and broadleaves.  The active ingredient in GreenMatch is d-limonene, a citrus oil extract and powerful, natural degreasing agent that strips away the waxy cuticle from leaves, causing fast wilting, dehydration, and death.

Organic Program Compliant

GreenMatch meets the requirements of the USDA National Organic Program (NOP) for use in organic agriculture. GreenMatch is listed by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) and is certified organic by the Washington State Dept. of Agriculture (WSDA).

Ideal for Tree Nut, Fruit, & Vine Crops

GreenMatch does not affect the trunks of mature vines and trees, and is ideal for controlling weeds under the vine-row in grapes or under the drip-line in tree nuts and fruits. Keeping this area clean of weeds will also improve irrigation and reduce insect and disease outbreaks.

Effective & Economical Weed Control

GreenMatch is an excellent alternative to hazardous flame weeding, and expensive hand weeding and cultivating. Cultivating is costly when the total costs are considered (i.e. tractor, specialty cultivator, maintenance, labor). The up-front cost and continued maintenance of specialty tillage equipment is expensive, and tillage actually brings weed seed to the surface to germinate. Even the best cultivators will not eliminate all weeds. GreenMatch provides effective and economical weed control of grass and broadleaf weeds.

Non-Corrosive to Sprayers

Other organic weed control products are acidic and are known to be corrosive on metal sprayer parts, but GreenMatch is safe and non-corrosive in all types of sprayers.

Safe on Drip Irrigation & Plastic Mulch

Unlike mowing, cultivating, or flame weeding that can destroy drip irrigation and plastic mulch, it is safe to spray GreenMatch on plasticulture and drip irrigation systems.

GreenMatch Best Use Recommendations:

Application Rates
For broadcast applications, use a 14% dilution (1 part GreenMatch to 6 parts water). In cool weather situations or for tough to control weeds, a more concentrated spray may be needed.  In such situations, spot treatments with a 20% dilution rate (1 part GreenMatch to 4 parts water) may be used (SEE TABLE). Always read and follow label directions.

Coverage is Critical
It is critical to apply GreenMatch in a sufficient amount of water.  A minimum spray volume of 60 gallons of water per acre is recommended. Spray weeds until thoroughly wet. Always read and follow label directions.

Timing
GreenMatch is most effective when applied to weeds less than 6” in height.
